SSRN: A New Chapter

mendeley

I am thrilled to announce a new chapter for SSRN! In 1994 I helped Mike Jensen co-found SSRN and have seen it flourish as a resource for scholars all over the world. The SSRN team has worked hard to help scholars create innovative research faster.

In the 22 years since SSRN started there has been tremendous strides in scholarly research and academia in general. Changes in scholarship have required changes in SSRN, and decades later we continue to provide authors with services they can trust. In the last few years it has become clear that we need a partner to reach our potential and fulfill SSRN’s mission.

Specifically, we joined Elsevier, to be further developed alongside Mendeley today, a leading innovator in scholarly communication and author collaboration. Our goal is to enhance engagement within and around an author’s academic work. Mendeley’s data and analytical tools will help us support our authors and, most importantly, we will continue to provide free submissions and free downloads.  Mendeley has thrived since obtaining the support of Elsevier, the world’s largest scholarly publisher, and now we will be able to offer broader services that deeply integrate the SSRN Community into the social network of science.

For long-time users of SSRN, this is something to celebrate. For newer users, we are just getting started. As we innovate, with Mendeley, your experiences will become even more enjoyable and productive. Mike Jensen and I wrote posts today outlining our thoughts on the relationship and excitement for the future.

Thank you for your support to date and into the future!
